Adaptive, Safe, and Inclusive Ice Hockey

I

The Mercer Bulldogs program is an adaptive ice hockey league dedicated to providing a high-quality experience for individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to ensure that every athlete, regardless of their physical or developmental needs, can experience the joy of the game in a supportive and empowering environment.

To ensure the best possible experience for our players, our league operates on a no-contact, no-checking model—prioritizing safety, accessibility, and skill development over physical play.

Our Safety and Inclusion Standards:

  • Full Protective Gear: To maintain a safe environment on the ice, all players are required to wear complete hockey protective gear during every practice and game.

  • Zero Checking & No Contact: We enforce a strict no-checking policy. By removing physical contact, we keep the focus on skating, puck handling, and the therapeutic benefits of team sports.

  • Ability-Based Matching: We understand that every athlete is unique. Our lines and matchups are carefully balanced based on individual ability, mobility, and experience levels to promote fair, friendly, and confident play.

  • A Supportive Community: The Mercer Bulldogs offer a friendly, "family-first" atmosphere where players can build social connections, improve physical coordination, and grow their love for hockey at their own pace.

Whether your athlete is a seasoned skater or getting on the ice for the first time, the Mercer Bulldogs provide a place where everyone belongs.
